David Harper, a Local Preacher in the circuit, during lockdown has written his first book called :A to Z of Mindfulness for Christians.
At 4 o'clock one morning during lockdown, he was woken up with a start and the structure of the book. He went downstairs and wrote down the inspiration, and went back to bed. Then, for about 4 months,3 or 4 hours each day, wrote the 52 chapters (2 for each letter of the alphabet). Topics covered include Kindness, Now, Patience, Worry. The last 3 letters of the book were the hardest! Some Christians think (incorrectly) that Mindfulness is a Buddhist activity. With the help of 2 or 3 bible refences per topic, David explores how very relevant Mindfulness is for Christians. It is a helpful accessible and interesting book which explores Mindfulness and how it might complement and enhance your spirituality and faith.
On the cover/inside, the book has been commended by Mark Williams (who wrote Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World book and national course), Timothy Radcliffe from Blackfriars Hall and Martin Wellings (former superintendent of this circuit).
The book has been published by Circle books in the UK and the US, and is out in paperback on 30 June 2023. It is available in bookshops and also ebook and on Amazon. ISBN 978 1 80341 116 3
