RAINBOW HOUSE at Wesley Memorial 40th BIRTHDAY.

rh

Oxford's Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Tiago Corais, came to celebrate with the staff and supporters of Rainbow House at Wesley Memorial Church on Friday 2nd May. (Pictured here with the Revd Miriam Moul, and Kate Dobson, one of the project's founders.)

Rainbow House drop-in for children under 5 with a carer has been welcoming customers young and older since May 1985. Its unique offering combines a café with healthy food, at good prices, with all the entertainment facilities of a playgroup. We are open from 10.30 am to 2.00 pm every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during school term-time. Some of our present customers were brought as tiny children, and now bring their own little ones. Many visitors from overseas express their delight at finding a place to relax and meet people. One grateful Oxford customer wrote, A great place to come when you're in town for lunch with the kids. I used to come as a child 30 years ago and it's so lovely it's still going.

Wesley Memorial is proud of this service to the community, and of its fame that has spread far and wide. This was a warm farewell from a Spanish customer:

Now we are travelling back to Spain, but we will not forget our mornings here. We will miss you! Gracias y hasta la vista!

And thanks from us to all friends in the circuit, some of them now no longer with us, who helped at Rainbow House over the years.

With all good wishes, The Rainbow House Committee
